DESCRIPTION:Basic radiation safety training is required for all employees u
 sing radioactive materials in the laboratory. The lecture is held on the s
 econd Tuesday of each month from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at 5425 Woodward\, Suite 3
 00. The following Monday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.\, all training attendees must
  take and pass a written Radiological Health Exam at the same location.   
 Students attending this training this session should discuss with their PI
  the radioactive materials they will be working with prior to attending th
 e training.   All employees and students who continue to use radioactive m
 aterials in the laboratory and have taken basic radiation safety training 
 are required annually to take an online refresher course. To access the re

DESCRIPTION:The University Research Corridor - Michigan State University\, 
 the University of Michigan and Wayne State University - will host an all-d
 ay conference on "Environmental Health Sciences" on Wednesday\, January 20
 \, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Wayne State's McGregor Memorial Con
 ference Center in Detroit\, Michigan.   The goal of the conference is to d
 evelop inter-institutional\, multidisciplinary research collaborations in 
 environmental health science problems important to Michigan and the U.S.  
  Dr. Linda Birnbaum\, director of the National Institute of Environmental 
 Health Science of the National Institutes of Health and the National Toxic
 ology Program will be the keynote speaker. As NIEHS and NTP director\, Dr.
  Birnbaum oversees a $730 million budget that funds multidisciplinary biom
 edical research programs\, prevention\, and intervention efforts that enco
 mpass training\, education\, technology transfer\, and community outreach.
  The NIEHS supports more than 1\,240 research grants.   The afternoon will
  consist of breakout sessions with the following-topics:      Air Pollutio
